Usually this time of the year we are starting to look for early winter steelhead in the rivers. But the truth is we are still catching Silvers on the Skykomish River. We have started seeing some Chum Salmon in the river. However, Chum Salmon are closed and we are carefully releasing them. There are up days and down days as far as numbers, but if you fish hard you will definitely be rewarded. Many of the silvers we are into are nice and bright.
The great thing about this time of the year is the varied techniques you can use to get into Coho Salmon. Drift fishing Dick Nite Spoons is definitely a preferred technique. The 50/50 color has been treating us well. Free drifting and even drift fishing eggs has also produced good numbers of keeper salmon. Depending on the flow of the river you can backtroll plugs.
We are still looking for the early winter Steelhead, but until then we will keep pulling in the hard fighting Coho. If you are interested in a late season Coho trip, give us a call.
